Endocrine Pancreatic Tumors
An endocrine tumor affects the endocrine cells of the pancreas and accounts for 5% of all pancreatic cancers. They are slower growing than the exocrine tumors and may be benign or malignant. Endocrine pancreatic tumors are also classified as functional and non-functional tumors. Functional tumors produce hormones, and the majority of tumors are benign. Non-functional tumors produce no hormones, and 90% of the tumors are malignant. The following table explains the different types of endocrine pancreatic cancer tumors:
